FPInnovations has added a new technology transfer activity to its roster of offerings to help the forest industry be more competitive! It is a two-day workshop that includes a day in the classroom and a day in the field to revisit the key factors for improving productivity, accuracy, precision, efficiency, and, ultimately, the cost of operating processor and harvester heads. This workshop brings the expertise and knowledge of FPInnovations’ dedicated staff directly to member companies’ forest operations staff that provide coaching and direction to contractors and machine operators.
Dean Caron and Craig Evans completed the first delivery of the “Maximizing Value from Processor/Harvester Heads Workshop” in Thunder Bay (Domtar) on December 2 and 3, with Firesteel Contracting providing the machine. Waratah OEM expert Scott Asmussen from British Columbia attended with the group and added extra value.
Thirteen people attended this first delivery of the workshop and were impressed by the impacts. The feedback received by the participants was positive. This was the first of five deliveries we currently have scheduled this winter and the FPInnovations team is open to more in the coming months.
