FPInnovations’ expertise lies in adapting existing equipment and systems, developing algorithms, and providing support to achieve digital transformation objectives.

1. Truck weigh scale

Objective: record the weight of vehicles entering and leaving the mill. This accurate recording of the vehicle total and curb weights is critical to the modern management of any forest operations mill (sawmill or paper mill).

Main functionality: weigh management (at entry and exit).

  • Measuring of wood: the law requires some trucks to be sampled (mandatory random verification). This information is stored in the scales system.
  • Inventory management: the scale knows all mill entry and helps decision-making for orders, respecting the desired supply flow.
  • Payment and invoicing: the scale system generally takes over the transport information from the bill of lading. This information, together with the weights carried as measured by the scales, enables accurate payment to be made.

How does DigiTransport make a difference?

DigiTransport exports scale data, focusing on entry and exit times, total and curb weights, product and origin. This information, combined with the telemetry devices, provides an overall picture of a mill’s forestry transport.

2. Telemetry recording devices

Objective: follow the trucks out of their transport operations to ensure everything is in order (legal and operational).

Several features are supported, such as hours-of-service (HoS) tracking, GPS position and real-time tracking, engine data logging, safety round report logging, fuel card integration, and more.

How doeos DigiTransport make a difference?

DigiTransport exports data recorded by the telemetry devices. This information is mainly related to engine data (fuel consumption, distance) and GPS data (speed, driving time, and idling time).

3. Cloud computing

The use of cloud computing brings flexibility to the automating data assembly method. This can be by means of an Excel file exported on a daily basis, or an automated export via an application programming interface.

With data in the cloud, it’s easy to manipulate very large databases and quickly activate powerful analyses.

These databases can then be visualized by other programs such as BI.
