Fleet Efficiency Audits

The PIT Group of FPInnovations has been heavily involved in fleet audits for the past 15 years. The establishment of the Green freight program of Natural Resource (GFP), has strengthened the need of the fleet to get some assistance with this process. As a result, our Experts have been extensively requested to carry out fleet management audits across the country.

Drawing on the experience of the PIT group and its research program entirely linked to the freight transport industry. The team of auditors has the science, expertise and tools to carry out fleet management audits.

Approach & Methodology

PIT Group auditors will analyze the operations of the fleet to identify opportunities for improvement. They will look at several aspects of the fleet, including telematics data, vehicle specifications and purchases, maintenance, driver behavior and logistics.

At the end of the audit, they will produce some specific recommendations that respond to the fleet needs. Clear scenarios involving the proposed technologies will be presented. Conservative estimated projections will evaluate the possible GHG reduction and ROI. The Team will also report and discuss other relevant information that has caught their attention throughout the process.

What is Green Freight Assessment Program and the fleet management audit ?

The objectives of the Green Freight Assessment Program managed by Natural Resources Canada are to:

  • Reduce GHG emissions
  • Improve bottom-line
  • Increase competitiveness

The objectives of the fleet management audit are to:

  • Bring awareness to HDV fleet operators
  • Provide valuable action items to the fleet
  • Meet the audit requirements of the GFP program

How involved is the fleet in the audit process?

At the beginning, the fleet receives a clear guidance on how the audit will proceed, but the effort boils down to:

– Prepare and provide the relevant documents and reports

– Host a two days (in-person) visit where the audit team and fleet management team will meet and discuss fleet goals, limitations, daily operation, management practices and much more.

TIME FRAME AND DELIVERABLE

The average time required to complete the exercise is approximately eight weeks. The length is mainly related to the preparation and the reception of the customer documents. Our committed team will provide an exact date at the signature of the contract.

The audit process concludes with the delivery of a written report. The report describes the current situation of the fleet and presents the recommendations by evaluating the economic impact and the reduction of GHGs following the implementation of each of the recommendations.

The information exchanged by both parties during the audit process is strictly confidential. The data provided by the fleet is used for the sole purpose of carrying out fleet analysis.
