1- Use the Public Announcement (PA) system to deliver the following message:
Attention all staff. Tap water is not safe for consumption at this time. Stop using tap water. Await further instructions.
2- Call FPInnovations’ Emergency Measures Coordinator at 778-731-1610.

3- Post “Contaminated Water” signage provided by FPInnovations in these locations:
- Water fountains
- Washrooms
- Cafeteria or kitchen areas
1- Inform the Tenant Representative, if needed.
2- Contact the Building Supervisor to confirm the scope of the water issue, if needed.
3- Ensure “Contaminated Water” signage is posted in key locations, including:
- Water fountains
- Washrooms
- Cafeteria or kitchen areas
4- Monitor official advisories from authorities, e.g. BC Emergency Alerts and UBC Alert, and relay relevant update to the Tenant Representative.
5- Notify the Tenant Representative when water system is confirmed safe for use.
1- If safe and feasible, isolate or close valves at critical points to prevent further contamination of the internal water system.
2- Investigate the source of the issue to determine whether the contamination originates within the building or from the upstream supply. If the issue appears to originate upstream, call UBC at 604-822-2173.
3- Confirm whether the contamination affects the building internal water system and report findings to the Emergency Measures Coordinator.
4- Once the municipal or UBC water advisory is lifted, if any, flush and circulate the water system to ensure safe restoration of service.
